Slovenia(Part 2)

Piran
When the weekend came around, Mirjana and Rasko offered to take me on a drive to the other parts of Slovenia and we headed south of Slovenia for the coastal area of Piran. Slovenia, being a small country, naturally does not have a long coastline. However, with beautiful blue skies and crystal clear waters, this is really the area to go to if you are looking for a place to relax in Slovenia. Since Slovenia is close to Italy, you can actually see part of Italy from the shore. And of course, it goes without saying that you can find lots of Italian tourists here and many Slovenians here are able to speak Italian and there are also many signboards in Italian. Unlike coastal towns elsewhere, you will not find big, up-market hotels or resorts here. Instead, what you find is a typical Slovenian small town, which is great for strolling around.
On the way home, Rasko brought us to a very special restaurant for dinner. This is a really interesting restaurant as it is located in the middle of nowhere, miles away from the nearest town. Unless you are a local or have been there before, there is no way that you will be able to know that there is actually a restaurant in this mountainous area. This region is famous for special mushrooms, so it goes without saying that the specialty of the restaurant is mushrooms. First up is a dish of mushrooms, fried in butter. It may look simple, but I must say, it is the best mushrooms I ever had!
The main course is home-made pasta, cooked with mushrooms, of course! And not forgetting the European favorites of cheese and ham.

Yes you're right, it is nice and not that commercialised. Actually the narrow alleys reminded me of Cadiz in Spain. Perhaps most parts of europe is like that?!?
